Pavement/Historical_Pavement_Properties (MapServer)

Service Description: This historical collection of data contains pavement elements collected by UDOT's Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD). It is a static dataset containing: Resilient Modulus - The Falling Weight Deflection (FWD) testing was used to characterize the subgrade support and the Resilient Modulus (Mr) was estimated. This is a material property for the strength of the ground under the pavement used in pavement design. Technically the Mr is a lab determined value from tri axial texting depending on the soil sample density and moisture content. The FWD testing provides an Elastic Modulus (E). The Mr is then predicted with a correlation value. Structural Number - The Falling Weight Deflection (FWD) testing was used to determine the pavement strength and a Structural Number (SN) was estimated. This is an AASHTO pavement design parameter where the traffic loads provided a required SN. The thickness for each of the pavement layers could then be optimized to meet this strength need. 2006 Load Transfer Efficiency - The department used our Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) to test the load transfer efficiency (LTE) between the concrete slabs for the jointed concrete pavement that was constructed without dowel bars. A load was placed one side of the joint, the deflections were measured on both sides and the ratio was used to determine the LTE. Good aggregate interlock is important for supporting the loads as they cross from slab to slab.
